Hi all
I've put this post off because it's not an easy one to write.
After 35 years of operating our little family business, today is our last day.
All good things must come to an end. Over the last couple of years we've been working through how that could happen. It's not an easy road to navigate, but we did. We did it our way. The way we always do.
Family business can take a lot but that can also give a lot. Blood, sweat and tears go in, learning, satisfaction and fulfilment can come out.
As a family we have had all of those.
What's next I hear you ask.
For Tina and me it will be some sort of hybrid version of an early retirement. I will stay on in a part time roll for a while to help with a smooth transition. Trish (kind of family) will still be here to help with continuity and be a fountain of knowledge to the new owners. Trish has been here for nearly 20 years and we thank her for her hard work and loyalty.
I can assure everyone that Protea World remains in safe hands.
John and James and their families will continue to carry this business forward with new ideas and boundless enthusiasm.
Their family spirit has made this process as painless as possible. We thank them for that.
Finally we would like to thank our suppliers and customers near and far that have made what we do a real joy.
